Netflix has damaged HBO’s 17-year streak as the most nominated community at the Emmy Awards.
In the nominations launched this afternoon, Netflix got here out rather forward, with 112 nominations in comparison to HBO’s 108. Those come with Best Comedy nods for GLOW and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, in addition to Best Drama nominations for The Crown and Stranger Things.
Other Netflix presentations were given some love as smartly. Jordan Crook, my co-host on the Original Content podcast, will likely be satisfied to understand that Jason Bateman was once nominated for his paintings as each actor and director on Ozark. Meanwhile, Black Mirror‘s “USS Callister” episode was once nominated for Best Television Movie.
The different giant streaming products and services had excellent information, too. Hulu gained 27 nominations, with ultimate 12 months’s Best Drama winner The Handmaid’s Tale up for the giant award once more. Handmaid’s Tale was once considered one of the most-nominated presentations general, despite the fact that its 20 nominations had been simply shy of Westworld‘s 21 and Game of Thrones’ 22. (These are nominations for GoT’s 7th season, which aired ultimate summer season.)
Meanwhile, Amazon’s presentations gained 22 nominations, together with a Best Comedy nod for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
The winners will likely be introduced in a rite hosted by means of Colin Jost and Michael Che on Sept. 17.
